PM builds Singapore security cooperation

PRIME Minister Tony Abbott is expected to agree to greater security cooperation with Singapore at a meeting with Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.
THE pair have already socialised at a Sunday barbecue as part of Mr Abbott's two day visit, which is focusing on building investment and trade with Australia's fifth largest trading partner.
Mr Abbott will on Monday meet Mr Lee and President Tony Tan at the presidential palace where they will seal a comprehensive strategic partnership to strengthen economic and defence ties. The visit has focused on business however, with Mr Abbott to speak at a sell-out chamber of commerce breakfast on Monday. Mr Abbott will then visit the Singapore Botanical Gardens, where an orchid will be named in honour of the relationship between both countries, rather than him personally, local media reported. The visit ends with Mr Abbott giving the Institute for South East Asian Studies Singapore Lecture titled: "Our Common Challenges: Strengthening Security in the Region".
