UNKNOWN gunmen have attacked a hotel
in the resort Tunisian city of Sousa, the Tunisian newspaper al-Chouruk
has reported online.
AN exchange of fire followed on Friday between the attackers and security guards, according to the report.
The newspaper reported unspecified casualties in the violence. Tunisia has stepped up security since March when gunmen killed a policeman and 21 tourists, including an Australian-Colombian dual national and his Colombian mother, at the Bardo museum in the Tunisian capital. The Islamic State extremist group claimed responsibility for the March attack. A later report on Tunisian state TV said 19 people had been killed in the attack on the hotel and one of the gunmen was also killed.
