Sixty choir kids fall ill on horror flight

Sixty members of a Welsh children's choir were treated by paramedics at London Heathrow on Monday after falling ill on an Emirates flight from Dubai.
The children, aged 10 to 14, were returning from a performance in Cape Town, South Africa when they began complaining of diarrhoea and vomiting.

Eleven of the kids were taken to hospital after arriving in London and were later discharged.
The rest of the young singers were treated at the airport to ensure they weren’t bringing an infection into the country.
The group from the Wales Millennium Centre/Only Kids Aloud Chorus travelled to South Africa for two special concerts with renowned opera singer Bryn Terfel.

The events were organised to mark the 20th anniversary of the end of apartheid in South Africa.
It's suspected the kids were suffering food poisoning.
The entire choir consists of 65 children, meaning only five of them managed to avoid becoming ill.
It is likely that they picked up a bug before leaving Cape Town but it is impossible to say for certain how they became ill.
