KARACHI: Former President General (retd) Pervez Musharraf arrived here on Saturday night from Islamabad.
Earlier, Musharraf's counsel Ahmed Raza Kasuri said the former president had informed him of his visit to Karachi and was expected to stay with his daughter.
Kasuri said that Musharraf would be treated at PNS Shifa Hospital during his stay in Karachi.
Government sources told Geo News that Musharraf was travelling to Karachi to visit his family and would return to Islamabad.
Members of the former president’s political party All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) said Musharraf would remain in Karachi for two days.
Karachi Police Chief, Shahid Hayat said he was unaware of Pervez Musharraf arriving in the city.
Ahead of Musharraf's arrival 3,000 policemen in the city along with armoured and bombproof vehicles were placed on standby.
The former president is expected to arrive at the PAF Faisal Base and not the Jinnah International Airport.
Musharraf had been shifted to his farmhouse in Chak Shahzad from the Armed Forces Institute of Cardiology (AFIC) after being indicted in the treason case on March 31.
